This is a very impressive sight. Volunteers place over 23,000 candles over the battlefield. Each candle represents a casualty from the bloodiest single day battle in American history. The drive thru tour begins at 6PM on route 34 east of Sharpsburg. This year the event will take place Dec. 3, 2005, incase of rain or high wind it will be rescheduled for Dec. 10.
