Monterey Inn in its hay day was a very popular summer resort hotel. Every summer sociatlites from Washington and Baltimore would come by train to relax and enjoy the cool mountain air of Blue Ridge Summit.

What notoriuos gal was born at Monterey Inn in 1896?
